Celebrating 175 Years
Join us on Sunday, October 14th, 2018 to celebrate our 175th anniversary!
On October 7, 1843, a group of Christians living in the area of Euclid Avenue and 107th Street, about five miles east of downtown Cleveland, met to establish a new church in the Disciples of Christ tradition to serve the Doan’s Corners area of the community (an area now dominated by Cleveland Clinic.) Four buildings and three names later that congregation is known as Disciples Christian Church on Mayfield Road, across from Severance Town Center, in Cleveland Heights.
Through 175 years that congregation has endured many ups and downs, many social, economic, and cultural challenges. Today Disciples Christian Church is a thriving, progressive, diverse, open and affirming community of followers of Jesus Christ. Like the 1843 congregation, we still celebrate Holy Communion each Sunday, we still celebrate our heritage as a progressive Protestant congregation, and we are still forward-thinking.
We are planning now for the next 50 years of serving the “Heights” communities. Come and see for yourself!
