INCLUSIVE ADULT LIBRARY: In 2020, our library didn’t remotely reflect the diversity of our congregation or our surrounding community. First we began with updating our children’s library (below), which was a wonderful process that brough so much joy to DCC and our visitors. Now we are in the process of doing the same with our adult library. There are of course thousands of incredible, life-changing books written from “the margins” by people who are queer, people of color, women, people with disabilities, etc., on topics of theology, culture, race, history, equity, social justice, biblical studies, art, the environment and more. You are invited to help us shelf 1,000 adult books that reflect the diversity of our community and world, that celebrate and advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion.
INCLUISIVE CHILDREN’S LIBRARY: DCC has over 1,000 children’s and youth books focused on diversity, inclusion, social justice, feelings, equity, and the earth, curated by Rev. Jason as well as gifts from the community. Below is small sample of the books that were set out for Black History Month (we have over 100 in this collection). We have books that focus on characters of many different cultures, races, abilities, sexual orientations, economic backgrounds and genders. We have history books, art, poetry, fiction and non-fiction for all ages. We also have plentiful books centered Christianity and Judaism, and a handful on other religious traditions.
